The Cartografias (Mappings) cycle translates into material terms previous cycles, such as Paisagem Matérica (Substancial Scenery) - 1999 and Espírito e Matéria (Space and Substance) - 2002. However, since 2012, Cartografias (Mappings) experienced several changes, presenting more consistency - a product of a reflective spiritual inwardness - because in this context mapping refers to the soul.
By projecting using multiple collage, one is left with a progressive, unfinished, yet safe feeling of actual mapping. The line becomes visible; shape, texture and size thicken leaving a glimpse of landscapes that emerge from geological masses, blots and traces that, like handwriting, look similar to maps spread over pictorial landscapes.
