Spirit and Substance
2000 - 2002
This is a material painting, almost bodily due to its textured pastes. Its theme is based on the four alchemical elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. The Fire for its colour and glowing magma. Earth for the telluric and geologic masses. Air for the space of silence and breath of empty horizons. Water for its fluidity and playful blues that sprout depths. Through their spirituality, they all send us to our collective unconscious.
